Why “Respectful Advertising” is the Only Sustainable Path for Live Media by Erhan Ciris

As we scale AI infrastructure for live broadcasts, a critical question emerges: Just because we can insert content anywhere, should we?

In my work at 4D Sight, I’ve maintained that technology should enhance the spectator experience, not detract from it. If advertising disrupts the integrity of a live event — whether it’s a high-stakes UFC fight or a Riot Games esports championship — everyone loses. To prevent this, we operate under a philosophy I call “Respectful Non-interruptive Advertising.”

To guide this evolution, we follow three core pillars designed to align the needs of rights holders with the expectations of the modern viewer:
1. Natural Environmental Embedding
For an ad to be respectful, it must feel like a natural part of the scene. Instead of treatng the broadcast as a flat screen for overlays, our AI treats it as a 3D space. By interpreting geometry and lighting in real time, assets appear as photorealistic parts of the physical event space.
2. Zero Gameplay Interference
The sanctity of the competition is paramount. Our guidelines strictly dictate that virtual content must never interfere with a viewer’s comprehension of the action or the movement of the athletes. If a piece of content obscures a decisive move, it has failed its primary purpose.
3. Cultural and Regional Appropriateness
As global audiences diversify, the “one-size-fits-all” approach to broadcasting is becoming obsolete. Our infrastructure allows content to remain culturally and legally appropriate for each specific viewing region. This ensures that global rights holders can respect local norms while still maximizing their commercial yield.
The Path Forward
The future of media is about relevance. Showing the right message to the right audience, while preserving the authenticity of the event, is the only way to build long-term trust. At 4D Sight, we aren’t just creating ad space; we are building the infrastructure for a more respectful, spatially aware media landscape.

As we continue to develop a “Perception Layer” that understands the world in three dimensions, my goal remains the same: to build technology that respects the fan as much as the creator.
